How will participants be selected?

Priority will be given to households replacing eligible gas appliances with efficient electric alternatives.

To ensure the Pilot reflects a diverse range of households, participants will be selected based on factors including:

• Building type
• Household income
• Home ownership status (renters, landlords, owner-occupiers)
• Current appliance configuration
• Existing rooftop solar (or willingness to install it)

Households will be carefully selected by the project team to make sure the research is representative of the community. Places will be set aside for low-income households to participate in the trial, with higher subsidies available for them.

Where there are extra applicants per category, we will use an anonymous, random selection system.
