Do I have to disconnect my gas?

Once all your gas appliances are replaced, we recommend disconnecting your gas to stop paying the daily gas supply fee, but the decision is entirely up to you.

If you choose to disconnect, the cost will be covered by the household.

• Gas main disconnection typically costs around $130, and will stop the ongoing daily supply fee.
• You can also opt for Service Abolishment, where the meter is removed, and gas pipes connecting to the main are extracted. This costs approximately $1,400, but it's usually unnecessary and often suggested as the default option when you inquire about disconnection.
